Why Choose ASRock?
Top 10 reasons to choose us
1. Why choose ASRock motherboard as your next DIY motherboard ?
Because ASRock motherboard is Creative, Considerate, and Cost Effective.
Creative: ASRock I/O™ design
Considerate: ASRock I/O™, multi-language installation guide, warning messages on mothboard.
Cost Effective: ASRock offers optimal specifications such as 4 USB 2.0 ports, ATA133, 5.1 channel audio and LAN functions on board for entry users with an affordable price.
2. What's ASRock I/O™ ? What's the advantage comparing to other I/O ?
As the demand for USB port increases while the demand for COM port decreases, ASRock creates ASRock I/O™ to accommodate this trend.
ASRock I/O™ provides four default rear panel USB 2.0 ports panel without sacrificing the GAME port (which could be important for Gamers). There is still one COM port available for customers who desires COM port for legacy devices.
If you are looking for better USB connection, ASRock I/O™ is definitely your best choice !

4. Why do all of ASRock motherboards support USB 2.0 Devices ?
USB 2.0 has become a very popular standard in today's PCs. It increases the data transmission rate up to 480Mb/s (high speed spec.). This is higher than what Firewire (IEEE 1394a) can deliver (400Mb/s). USB 2.0 is backward compatible. Cutomers with legacy USB 1.1 devices can still use them in USB 2.0 port.
With the advantages of lower cost and higher transmission rate compared to IEEE 1394a, USB 2.0 specification is definitely a must for the next generation motherboards.
All ASRock motherboards support USB 2.0 specification !
5. Why ASRock motherboards provide both DDR and SDRAM DIMM slots ?
During the transition period from SDRAM to DDR, memory module pricing and users' choice are hard to predict. To provide best flexibility and reduce the risk of memory inventory for system integrators, ASRock offers both DDR and SDR DIMM slots on the same motherboard. System integrators and end users can benefit from this feature to get the highest value/price ratio when they assemble the PCs.
6. Why is ASRock motherboard equipped with default RJ45 LAN port ?
Ethernet LAN has already been used widely in the commercial environment. In today's home environment, ADSL and cable modem have also become popular. Broadband communication is a worldwide trend, ASRock strongly recommends RJ45 LAN port onboard because it will soon be useful for customers in the future even though customers may not need it now.

7. Why doesn't ASRock use PCI LAN Chip or PCI audio chip ?
Thanks to today's IC integration and fabrication technologie. The performance of software LAN or Audio functions is as good as PCI audio chip. Therefore, we don't suggest PCI LAN and Audio chip in the entry PC segment to save cost for end users.
Besides , this design frees more PCI slots for the customers.
8. What is the optimal choice for AMD FSB266Mhz and 333Mhz CPU MB platforms ?
In today's AMD CPU, the maximum FSB speed is 266Mhz. Therefore, DDR266 memory's tranmission rate corresponds the optimal transmission rate of AMD CPUs with 266Mhz FSB. For AMD CPU with 266Mhz FSB, it does not make much sense to buy a motherboard supporting DDR333 because the optimal data transmission rate of DDR333 is 333Mhz - much higher than the CPU FSB of 266Mhz. The cost of MBs with KT266A/KM266 chipset is much less than KT333. For AMD CPU @266Mhz FSB, ASRock recommends MBs using KT266A/KM266 chipset than KT333 to have a more effective cost/performance ratio.
For AMD CPU supporting FSB 333Mhz (very expensive now), ASRock recommends users to consider AGP 8X feature in their MBs to get better VGA performance.
9. What is Hyper-Threading Technology ? Does ASRock Motherboard support Hyper-Threading Technology ?
Hyper-Threading Technology is a groundbreaking innovation from Intel® Corporation that enables multi-threaded softare applications to execute threads in parallel within each processor. With Hyper-Threading Technology, processor-level threading can be utilized which offers more efficient use of processor resources for greater parallelism and improved performance on today's multi-threaded software.
Our newly released P4I45D motherboard is the first motherboard with Intel® 845D chipset supporting Hyper-Threading Technology for latest Intel® 3.06G P4 CPU.
10. Can old style power supply be used for ASRock's Intel platform Motherboards ?
Instead of using the new Intel specified 4-pin connector, ASRock MB still uses the 20-pin power connector. With this implementation, consumers who are migrating from the old computer still can choose to use their old power supply instead of going out to purchase a new one.
